Children's Dentistry
We love seeing young patients at Seaside Smile Clinic. Our team is patient, gentle, and experienced in making dental visits a positive experience for children of all ages.
Building Healthy Habits Early
A child's first dental visit is an important milestone. Starting dental care early helps establish good habits, prevents problems before they develop, and helps children feel comfortable with the dentist — a feeling that can last a lifetime.
We recommend bringing your child in for their first visit around their first birthday, or when their first tooth appears. Early visits are short and gentle — mostly about getting your child comfortable in the dental chair and giving parents guidance on home care.
Our team takes the time to explain everything in a friendly, age-appropriate way. We never rush, and we always check in to make sure your child is comfortable.
Seaside Smile Clinic provides general dental care for children as part of our family practice. We are not a specialist pediatric dental practice.
If your child feels anxious about dental visits, we also offer sedation options to help them feel at ease.
What We Offer for Young Patients
First Dental Visits
A gentle introduction to the dental chair, designed to be fun and stress-free for young children.
Preventive Care
Regular check-ups, cleanings, and X-rays to monitor your child's dental development and catch any issues early.
Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride helps strengthen developing teeth and protect against cavities.
Fissure Sealants
A thin protective coating applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth to help prevent cavities in hard-to-clean areas.
Dental Education
We teach children (and parents) about brushing, flossing, and healthy eating habits in a way that's engaging and age-appropriate.
Tips for Parents
- Start brushing as soon as the first tooth appears, using a soft infant toothbrush and a rice-grain-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste.
- Avoid putting your child to bed with a bottle of milk or juice — this can cause early childhood tooth decay.
- Talk positively about dental visits. Avoid using words like 'hurt' or 'needle' that might cause anxiety.
- Lead by example — let your child see you brushing and flossing regularly.
